Oasis Diagnostics® Corporation offers an assay with comprehensive evaluation for susceptibility to gluten, the CeliacStrip Assay. Gluten sensitivity is to some extent genetically predetermined. Its hereditary nature is manifested via an increase in prevalence amongst family members (10-15%) and a concordance of 80% between homozygous twins.
90-95% of celiac patients are positives for the HLA-DQ2 haplotype.
Among 5 and 10% are for the HLA-DQ8, however these alone will not trigger the onset of celiac disease.
Alleles that constitute the DQ2 cis haplotype:
DQA1*05
DQB1*02
DRB1*03
Alleles that constitute the DQ2 trans haplotype:
DQA1*05
DQB1*0301
DRB1*11 / DRB1*12
DQA1*02
DQB1*02
DRB1*07
Alleles that constitute the DQ8 haplotype:
DQA1*03
DQB1*0302
DRB1*04
