YChromStrip

YChromStrip test is a test for the detection of deletions in the Azoospermia Factor (AZF) located on chromosome Y. These deletions are the cause of male infertility doe to azoospermia (absence of sperm) or oligospermia (low sperm count).

Infertility is today a major health problem affecting about 10-20% of couples. The male factor is responsible for 30-50% of cases and 10 to 20% are attributed to azoospermia or oligospermia.

YChromStrip Product Insert

• Kits are based on reverse-hybridization of PCR products.
• All PCR reagents are included in the kit: Taq polymerase, primers and Master Mix.
• Several kinds of methods have been validated for DNA extraction: salting-out, silica columns, commercial kits (automated extraction), etc.
• Strips show STS (Sequence-Tagged Sites) or deletions in the AZF by enzymatic color reaction visible to the naked eye.
• Minimal equipment required (thermal cycler).
• Automated protocols available for Auto-LiPA / Profiblot and AUTOBLOT instruments.
