Oasis Diagnostics® is proud to sponsor the Workshop on “Human Saliva Banking Workshop (IgA as a diagnostic tool) in 3rd Annual Conference of Pak Association for Dental Research (IADR Pakistan Section) at Dow Institute of Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences (DRIBBS). The workshop was a part of 3rd Annual Conference of Pak Association for Dental Research (IADR Pakistan Section). It was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Arshad Hasan and his team including Dr. Salik Rasool, Dr. Shazia Akbar and Dr. Sofia Ali Syed.
The day began with a comprehensive introduction to the workshop by the Dr. Talat Roome, followed by a presentation from Dr. Zohaib Khurshid, highlighting the importance of collecting and using saliva as a diagnostic tool via devices such as those provided by Oasis Diagnostics®. The workshop continued with DRIBBS facilitators demonstrating saliva processing techniques including estimation of protein levels using ELISA by Dr. Raffat Amin, Principles of PCR and gene amplification by Dr. Tehseen Fatima, and Demonstrations of SDS-PAGE and HPLC techniques given by Dr. Sadaf Khan and Dr. Uzma Zaman respectively.
The workshop concluded with closing remarks from Deputy Director DRIBBS and Program Director Dow College of Biotechnology, DUHS, Dr. Shaukat Ali who appreciated the team efforts and overwhelming response of the participants. In the end shields and certificates were distributed among participants, facilitators and organizers of the workshop.
The workshop was coordinated by the Pakistan Human Saliva Research Group (PakSRG) that focused on salivary diagnostics to provide a glimpse into the future for recording substantial activities on the radars of biomedical research and clinical diagnostics and forwarding awareness of saliva as a window on health status. Supporting research and workshops is key to Oasis Diagnostics® mission to address the growing need for non-invasive saliva based technology for rapid testing, sample collection, and molecular diagnostics.
